SNAP Nutrient Solution for Hydroponics is the mineral nutrient solution used in SNAP Hydroponics®.

SNAP is a Simple Nutrient Addition Program for hydroponics. It’s a hydroponic system that is safe, easy to use and low-cost.

What is SNAP HYDROPONICS®?

SNAP is a Simple Nutrient Addition Program for hydroponics. It’s a hydroponic system that uses SNAP Nutrient Solution for Hydroponics.

To complete the SNAP Hydroponics® system, it also requires seedling plugs and grow boxes. These compose a system that is similar to the passive hydroponic system that is known as “Kratky’s method.”

What is SNAP nutrients?

SNAP nutrients are SNAP Nutrient Solution for Hydroponics that is being researched and manufactured in Physiology Lab, IPB, UPLB. It’s also known as “SNAP Hydroponics nutrients”, “SNAP Nutrients”, “SNAP nutsol”, and “SNAP nutes.”

There are many brands or formulation of mineral nutrient solutions for hydroponics but only SNAP Hydroponics has the longest history of excellent performance and safety, spans over two decades!

Why does SNAP Nutrient Solution for Hydroponics perform well?

Because SNAP Nutrients is a result of over two decades of research by the scientists of the Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB, UPLB). This is a project of IPB, UPLB with the help of the Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Agricultural Research.

This project’s goal is to make it easier for people to start and gain experience in growing plants in hydroponics. SNAP Nutrient Solution for Hydroponics and the SNAP Hydroponic system are the results of this project. In our personal opinion, SNAP nutsol is the golden standard of nutrient solutions for hydroponics.

How are SNAP Nutrients different compared to others?

These are different formulation or brand of nutrient solution for hydroponics. There is no guarantee that these are as good and as safe as SNAP Nutrients.

It is easy to create or formulate nutrient solutions because the ingredients and steps to create them can be read and watched from the internet.

It’s possible that sellers using “SNAP Hydroponics” in their nutrient solution are infringing on the intellectual property rights of BAR and UPLB (co-ownership). This also violates the rights of the consumer that is protected by law.

Where can I buy legitimate SNAP Nutrient Solution for Hydroponics?

Remember to buy only from SNAP Authorized Resellers. They have trained in IPB, UPLB about hydroponics and are able to apply what they learned in in operating their own SNAP Hydroponics system. SNAP Authorized Resellers are authorized to buy SNAP nutrients from IPB for resell purposes.

Individuals can also purchase SNAP Nutrients directly from IPB, UPLB. There is a limit of five (5) sets if the purchaser is not an Authorized Reseller.

Tips to make sure SNAP Nutrients are legitimate.

Verify with the seller if they are SNAP Authorized Reseller through their certificate of completion.

You can ask the members of SNAP Hydroponics Growers on Facebook. You can refer to their partial and unofficial list of SNAP Authorized Resellers.

The plastic bottle of SNAP Nutrients has gone through various changes in size and form over the years. It’s possible that the bottle and label of the SNAP Nutrients you received is different from those you see on the internet.

The label should say “SNAP Nutrient Solution for Hydroponics” and “Manufactured by Physiology Laboratory, IPB.”

Who are SNAP Authorized Resellers?

They are the individuals how attended and completed the short training course“Training Course on Hydroponics Vegetable Production with Emphasis on SNAP Hydroponics” (SNAP training). This training is conducted in IPB, UPLB.

Due of the pandemic SNAP Training in IPB, UPLB is indefinitely suspended.

Why is SNAP Nutrient Solution for Hydroponics not very common?

SNAP nutrients is a research output of IPB, UPLB. SNAP nutrients is not yet produced in a commercial scale. The pandemic has resulted in tremendous interest in SNAP nutrients. Because of the pandemic, there are many road blocks in the supply and man-power in manufacturing SNAP nutrients. It is also difficult for SNAP Authorized resellers to replenish their stocks because of the pandemic.

Is SNAP organic?

SNAP nutrients is not “organic” and the vegetables grown in SNAP Hydroponics cannot be considered “organic.” Despite this, vegetables grown in SNAP are safe. In fact, it has a 20-year flawless safety record. This is also the only nutrient solution in the country that includes a materials safety data sheet (MSDS).
